Bubble wrap is a packaging material that is used to prevent fragile and delicate items from breakage. It is a transparent plastic material that has air filled bubbles placed at regular distances that provide a cushion comfort when wrapped around breakable items. Apart from the cushioning effect provided by the bubbles the plastic itself also provides additional protection and support. These bubbles can be of different sizes depending upon the material to be packed and the amount of cushioning effect that is required. The diameter of the bubbles can be as thin as 6 millimeters to as large as 25 millimeters. This type of packaging is also referred to as “air cellular cushioning material”.

It is mainly used when an item is to be transported over large distances. Apart from the small items such as glassware, mirrors, photo frames, mobiles etc. it is also used for larger goods like refrigerators, machinery etc. We have a special type of bubble wrap packaging made with anti-static plastic that emits static charge which helps to defend the electronic chips within certain goods from static that can cause potential damage.
